there’s no place like home
December 2, 2009
With time on our hands, Flossy and I like nothing more than a few rounds of ‘Dream House’. It’s all very straightforward – you just take it in turns to describe your fantasy home, occasionally interrupting one another with an “oh wow!” Try it. A flight of fancy that only leads to Niceville, population 2 (plus a few animals …).
Here’s Flossy’s go:
First of all I would definitely have one or two Fifi Lapin dolls sitting on a shelf in the sitting room, which I would dress in a different outfit each day. In my sitting room I would also have a lot of framed posters, such as the one I have in my living room now.
A stylish chair would hang from the ceiling from a silver chain … made of clear plastic with a comfy, cream cushion on it … under the stairs would be a tiny study with a Mac and some very full book shelves. I would have a fluffy golden retriever called Caramel and an Old English sheepdog called Blue – not forgetting a tortoiseshell cat called Tortle … In my bedroom, I would have a big walk-in wardrobe, shoes everywhere – sky scraper heels and drop-dead gorgeous fashions … in the garden, a pool with a candy pink union jack on its bottom … beyond the back gate you’d find a lush green meadow, with long, thistle-free grass and wild flowers. Horses! I would have a big white carthorse, with a gentle nature called Alfred and a small black thoroughbred called Twilight, with a wild temperament … My house would be an old farmhouse, with the stables just across the courtyard. It would have purple wisteria climbing the walls. Upstairs I would have my studio, where I would design and make wonderful things out of fabric.
I hope you like my house!
Flossy x

Oh my goodness. That sounds like Heaven! I really don’t think I beat that. I shall have to give this some very, very careful thought indeed.
